"I don't know if we should worry, but what I can tell you who are reading this is that inside the army, the mood/morale is like what it was in the UNLA around early 1984.
Not yet an all-out crisis, but certainly no longer the familiar, calm normal.

The UPDF on the Verge of Deadly Split , Placed on Class One Standby High Alert ⚠️
Gen Wilson Mbadi, the CDF, was reported out of the country, Gen Museveni, the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces is in Rwanda, Lt Gen Elwelu, the deputy CDF, issued the Standby Class 1 orders
So much intrigue is going on inside Uganda’s army; the UPDF. Sources inside say, the Commander in Chief has called for a meeting of all military service chiefs this sunday . This follows an order issued by Deputy CDF Lt.Gen. Elwelu putting all troops on standby class 1, the highest level of military readiness
Asked on why the soldiers had been placed on Standby Class 1, UPDF spokesman Brig Felix Kulayigye said “you mean the army is not allowed to manage its [own] affairs?”
“That is not for the public,” he said.
Standby Class 1 is the highest level of alertness in the military and the order means there should be no troop or equipment movement, pending a final instruction.
The radio call message did not give reasons for the decision, or specify how long the order will last, leaving soldiers and their commanders guessing.
“We do not know what is happening in the country or our institution (army),” one senior commander noted, shortly after the emergency order went out to all military units
"The directive to put the UPDF on a high state of alert suggests major divisions in the army", Argues Senior Journalist Timothy Kalyegira
The last time the Ugandan army was split and the president attended a Commonwealth summit (1971), it ended badly.
On January 24th 1971, Obote while attending the CHOGM meeting in Singapore , he called to warn all his aides to leave Kampala or it would be bad for them.
on 25th Jan 1972, Amin took over Uganda, President Museveni is not a man who gives chance to history to repeat itself --says Dan Daniel Oroma, Reknown Political commentator & Panelist.
